US History - Fall 2016

This class investigates the changing political atmosphere from the mid 1700s until today. In this class, you will read political documents from the past and discuss their impact on American history then and now.

This class is for 6th and 7th grade students.

First Session Information

Dates: 8/26, 9/2, 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30 (Fridays)

Time: 8:45pm–9:45pm

Location: Cupertino

Second Session Information

Dates: 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12 (Saturdays)

Time: 6pm–7pm

Location: Gunn High School, Palo Alto

Instructor: Oliver Ye

Oliver is an 8th grader at Lawson Middle school, where he has founded the Lawson science bowl club. He taught one session of US History in fall 2016 and is about to teach the second session. Oliver was a state qualifier for Math League, and has received an Honor Award in AMC 8. He has actively participated in speech and debate for over two years, and is an National Junior Honor Society member. Oliver has been playing soccer for over 9 years. He hopes to teach his students a lot about US History!

Instructor: Alvin Tian

Alvin Tian is an 8th grader at Kennedy Middle School. He has taught this class before during the Fall of 2016 to junior high students. Alvin enjoys many sports like competitive swimming, running cross country, and baseball. He has also won an Honor Award for the AMC 8. Alvin is on the Kennedy Debate team, and has won an undefeated award from the Burnett debate tournament. He also loves reading in his spare time. Alvin is very energetic and social, and hopes to teach his students a lot about American History.
