AMC 8/Mathcounts – Fall 2016
Students will learn general concepts by using them to solve specific problems. Each lesson will have a handout with the problems to be lectured on, and there will be extra problems for practice. During the second half of class, students will work on the extra problems. Topics that will be covered include algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics.
End result: Students will gain the necessary knowledge and skills for AMC 8 and Mathcounts.
Dates: Fridays 8/26, 9/09, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/07, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/04, 11/11, 11/18 (12 weeks; note that there is a break for Labor Day)
Time: 7:00–8:30 on Friday
Location: Santa Clara
