Stephanie Lee is a senior (2018) at Palo Alto High School. She has been involved in Speech and Debate since her freshman year and focuses primarily on Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, and Original Prose and Poetry. Stephanie has won two tournaments in three events, one in her sophomore (and novice) year and the second in her junior year. This past year, she has earned a bid to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions and was second alternate to the California state tournament. Additionally, Stephanie attained a near-perfect breaking record and multiple final round finishes at league tournaments and large invitationals, ranking her as one of the top 50 speakers in California. Stephanie has been a speech captain for the past two years (interpretations captain in her sophomore year and the team's speech captain in her junior year) and is excited to return again as the speech captain her senior year.

Claire Cheng is a current sophomore (2020) at Gunn High School. She is an avid member of her school’s debate team, focusing primarily on Policy. This will be Claire’s third year involved with debating. In her first year of high school debate, Claire and her partner have gone undefeated at League three and secured a spot for State Qualifications. This past summer, Claire and her partner (a double freshman team) were incredibly grateful in qualifying for the National Speech and Debate Association tournament in Alabama. Claire has fallen in love with the art of conveying ideas through speeches. She finds it a useful tool vital to daily conversations. In her free time, Claire loves to write about social issues, volunteer at her local Chinese school, and journal. She is looking forward to a class this season!
